Charlie Crist, governor of Florida, made it clear on a co-authored piece on the Florida Republican Site that Florida does not need Obamacare. The Florida Legislature passed a bill creating the Cover Florida Health Care Program which ensures that every Florida resident can receive healthcare, discounted drugs, affordable healthcare insurance, reasonable hospital costs and the Florida Discount Drug card. Crist says that Florida hopes to help lead the rest of the country into a good form of healthcare, there was no tax payer subsidies or government-run plans in the mix for Florida. And they say they are doing just fine without the federal government getting involved. There are at least 2 insurance companies in each county that have plans under Cover Florida competing with each other for clients. This keeps our historically competitive economic system while still providing less expensive healthcare: as little as $24.00 a month to$148.00 a month for the more popular plan and pre-existing conditions are covered under every plan.
This system is an example of the Republican alternative to Obamacare at working and paying off. It does what Obamacare won’t do, keeps competition and keeps it from becoming a federal run program. The system is American and is original just like America. America was based on new ideas and throughout its history America has been an original, so our healthcare should be the same.
