Jon Stewart Rips Obama Over Public-Option

No one need question the fact that President Barack Obama is an intelligent man. He is at the very least a competent man. He surely realizes by now that the momentum is no longer with him and his administration as it had been during his first hundred days in office. It is bad enough that his presidential approval rating is continuously sliding downwards – even among his own liberal Democratic base – and that fifty-four percent of Americans surveyed by Rasmussen believe passing no health care plan this year is better than passing whatever Congress has now. But when the Hollywood leftists and mainstream media cronies who held up your campaign and your first hundred days begin to turn on you, you know you have screwed up royally.

Comedian Jon Stewart, host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central and an unapologetically staunch liberal, ripped into the president last night, focusing on his appearance at a ‘town hall’ meeting in Colorado on Saturday, August 15th. At the event, President Obama said, “The public option, whether we have it or we don’t have it…,” to which Stewart replied, “Wait a second! What did you just say?! No public option? We still get to kill old people though, right?” Stewart went on to chastise the president for not staying on message and praising (sort of) the Bush administration who through a little ‘discipline’ and ‘repetition’ “could sell ice cubes to Eskimos.”

He ends the segment with twist to Obama’s famous campaign slogan, “Yes, we can! …Unless you don’t think we should!”
